I Confess:
...I am a Masochist...
...A Masochist who feels perverse pleasure in failure of finding The One (my apologies to Keanu Reeves)...
...The One Blemish Balm ("BB") which matches my NC25-NC30 skintone...
...The One BB whose texture agrees with my finicky preferences in base products...
...The One BB which doesn't make my skin erupt...
...And the Search continues...
...Alas...
...For I Believe...
...The One is still out there...
...Awaiting Me...
Most BBs are either way too light, way too pink, or both.
Really, people can rave all they want about how uber natural BBs look, but they only look natural IF they match your skintone.
As for their "miraculous chameleon-like-one-shade-fits-all" colour-adjusting property, well, let's just say ONE shade can only "adjust"/oxidise so much... =_="
In fact, using BBs makes me feel like I am the most tanned Oriental Asian O_o
(I know - rehashed - but I still stand by what I said back then...)
And don't get me started on the texture issues, please...
(...Thick, pasty, hard-to-blend, spackle-like...)

Important!
Sometimes, BB swatches are NOT accurate representations as certain BB creams may LIGHTEN or DARKEN as you blend.
Note:
I do NOT own the BBs in Batch 1 anymore, except for the Nude Cosmetics Skin Radiance 3 in 1 Multi BB SPF 25 PA++.
You can use that as a Control to gauge the other BBs undertones and colour depth.
Behold...Batch 2 of BBs I've been dabbling with in the recent months.
Most of them are failures and I shall be looking up new homes for them soon (via my BlogSale).
However, my stubborn streak is still trying to make the more promising ones work...The Vichy in particular because oil-control is superb!
And the swatches thereof...
Left to Right:
1) Nude Cosmetics Skin Radiance 3 in 1 Multi BB SPF 25 PA++ (Control)
2) Vichy Aera Mineral BB Skin Breathing Blemish Balm Cream SPF 20
3) Dr. G GoWoonSeSang Brightening Balm SPF 30 PA++
4) SunPlay Skin Aqua Silky BB Cream SPF 29 PA++
5) Bio-Essence Aqua BB Cream
Left to Right:

2) Etude House BB Magic Cream SPF 30 PA++

5) KissMe Heroine Make Essence in BB Cream SPF 30 PA ++
6) Maybelline Clear Smooth Minerals Instant Skin Perfecting Cream BB Cream SPF 25 PA+++
For those who may have missed Batch 1's swatches in my review on the Nude Cosmetics Skin Radiance 3 in 1 Multi BB SPF 25 PA++, here they are, once again:
Left to Right:
1) Nude Cosmetics Skin Radiance 3 in 1 Multi BB SPF 25 PA++ (Control)

As mentioned above, I do NOT own the BBs in Batch 1 anymore, except for the Nude Cosmetics Skin Radiance 3 in 1 Multi BB SPF 25 PA++.
You can use that as a Control to gauge the other BBs undertones and colour depth.
Thanks for dropping by! <3

Wowwww!!! That Etude House bb is so out there! I wonder if it would work better as an undereye concealer..? The Sunplay and Maybelline (must be an Asia only thing) look like they could be promising. Good luck in finding The One!
ReplyDeleteI wish US brands would start making BB creams, think there's a chance?
ReplyDeleteThank you so much suelynn for the wonderful swatches, they are so helpful~^0^
ReplyDeleteI've come to accept that BB Creams will just not work for me.
ReplyDeleteThey either turn me grey or don't cover anything and just look like a greasy shiny mess.
Bleh.
Love this blog! I am such a makeup lover and love to hear what everyone else thinks about certain products.
ReplyDeleteHope we can give eachother a follow! :)

@Carol The Etude House's ingredients list is a nightmare to the acne-prone...Pfffttt...It's gone now to PinkieCharm...The SunPlay blends lighter than the L'egere, and Maybelline is barely a BB actually...Just some SPF, and that's it! Hhhmmm...Western "BBs"...~_~
ReplyDelete@cjx3pooh Well, I think several are coming or already in the market, like Maybelline, Vichy, MAC, Lancome...But they don't seem to have much skincare properties...Maybe some tint, sunscreen, and that's it...Not true BBs IMO
ReplyDelete@Cherry Thank YOU for dropping by and taking the time to read my post :)
@M.A.C.nunu I'm stubborn - plain & simple. They seem to match you girls in the West better than me LOL Anyhooo, I'm on the last leg of trying them out... ~_~
ReplyDelete@globetrotter Thanks for reading! Will drop by your blog tonight at home!
I wonder could bb cream be blended with another type of foundation to work on darker skinned persons?? Anyone out there knows this...??
ReplyDeleteI will begin experimenting to see if I can find a solution.
SunPlay Skin Aqua Silky BB Cream SPF 29 PA++ looks great on you!
ReplyDeletei can't believe all those different shades on BB creams! They all seem similar but when swatched like that, they all look so different!!
ReplyDeleteHi !! How do you like the missha m bb cream? I'm thinking of getting it but a little hesitant.... >.<
ReplyDeletehi, i just followed you, and i think we're kinda the same shade.. i'm neutral to olive 25. kinda close.. i hope you'll find the [erfect BB cream, so I can try it too. I've only tried etude bb magic cream, missha perfect cover and both don't really work that well for me either.. good luck in your search! ;D
