Review: Lime Crime Coquette Pop Romance Spring 2011 Opaque Nude Lipstick

Allo there!

Remember my review on LimeCrime's "Cosmopop" Opaque Lipstick?

At that point of time, I was looking for an alternative to my (then) HG nude lippie, MAC PeachStock.

Swatches of "Cosmopop" on LimeCrime and Temptalia seemed promising,
and LimeCrime was kind enough to send me a tube for review purposes.

Alas, to my utter disappointment, eventhough I loved pretty much everything (texture, coverage, packaging, etc) about it,
the most important factor - COLOUR - was a TOTAL #FAIL.

Sadly, on SUPER pigmented lips, it turned out a very bright coral (bordering on orange, actually) instead of  the touted "Buttery, softened orange. Think creamsicle!"

It was tragic, I tell you T_T

Maybe LimeCrime heard my heart-wrenching cries all the way in the United States, because et-voile!
The "Pop Romance - Your lips, uncensored" Collection was born... ^_^

And . I . HAD . MY . HEART . SET . ON . "Coquette"
- "Pale, blushed nude. Because extra-pale lips are beautiful!"
So, very, ME!!!
Come hell and high water, I would get  my grubby paws on it,
and I did! *Thank you, Erica! {hugs}*

Fun aspects of the lipstick which makes it oh-so-appealing to the young (and young at heart).

PACKAGING

Any lover of MAC Heatherette's packaging will swoon over this.
Did you say, "No"?
OK, what about silver unicorns and stars which makes the tube look carefree, New Age and "hippie"? ^_^
I must admit though, that at the ripe old age of 35, it's just not something I would whip out, without feeling slightly embarrassed, but that's just me being a prude... =_=

EXTRA FUN STUFF

I love the Fable which comes with every LimeCrime lipstick.

In the case of "Coquette", the Fable is:
It was a typical city morning. Citizens grappled for their first cups of coffee, buses sighed and hissed from stop to stop, and pigeons discussed the latest street fashions. Even against this familiar murmur, Becky knew something was different. She opened her eyes, then her window, and from the height of her 8th floor apartment she saw towering mountains of heart-shaped candy boxes piled past her window. “Oh no,” Becky thought, “I guess I shouldn’t have blown so many kisses yesterday!” But that thought quickly faded as she stroked more lipstick over her lips. Soon she was back at her old game, blowing kisses out the window as the ever-increasing piles of candy threatened to topple. Becky wasn’t just flirting with all the boys; she was flirting with danger.
I don't know about you, but it's like, slicking this lipstick would give me a whole new alter-ego! :P
Clark Kent does it in a phone booth;
I just need a LimeCrime lipstick! HA! ^_~

On to the Serious Stuff - the LIPSTICK itself.

COLOUR

The shade "Coquette", in LimeCrime, is described as:

Pale, blushed nude. Because extra-pale lips are beautiful!

And unlike "Cosmopop", "Coquette" appears true-to-tube even on my super-pigmented lips.

However, as you can see from the photo below, it's still not as deathly-pale as LimeCrime's swatches of "Coquette".

TEXTURE

The texture is very smooth.
I'm already very acclimatised to MANY drying nude satin/matte lipsticks,
so this just glides on like butter - I kid you not!
In fact, if you use it everyday, I'm pretty sure it's quite an easy one to hit-tube on.
(Note: For it's price, I'm not comparing it to my HE lippies).

COVERAGE

The coverage is very opaque - which is what I look for in nude lipsticks.
I really can't be bothered doing the whole conceal-lip--then-apply-lipstick thingamajig.
Thus, it does manage to tone down the natural pigmentation of my lips.

RATING:
4.5 out of 5
(I would like a more *ahem* discreet packaging option ^_^)
